Homage to Frida
This drawing serves as a tribute to the life and art of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Each separate square represents an aspect of her life or art. For example, the squares with images of animals represents Frida's inability to have children. In her home she cared for many animals, including birds, dogs, cats, monkeys, parrots, even a deer. The animals she cared for in her home and which she painted in her self-portraits were substitutes for the children she never had.
